Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative
December 9, 2021 – So incredibly honoured to be in Ottawa celebrating the accomplishments of the Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative, led by the amazing Jennifer Bond. They have done so much to help refugees around the world. It was a special privilege to share my story and do a reading of The Doll (illustrated by the incredible Ravy Puth). I got to meet the Immigration Minister, the Honourable Sean Fraser. He’s got a copy of The Doll too. How cool is that?!
Dec 18/21 Feeling blessed and grateful for opportunities to read our little story to audiences near and far this year and the year to come. I’m still in awe of the fact that not only are children and adults reading The Doll across Canada, but also across the sea in London, UK, as a reader there is using the story in her local program! So thankful.
Dec 31 – Can’t believe #TheDoll made it on CBC’s list of Best Canadian Picture Books of 2021, alongside so many amazing authors I’ve long admired. Feeling grateful to @_secondstory and the gifted @ravy.illustration, as this wouldn’t be possible without them.
Kindness is a very practical solution to societal ailments. Here’s hoping there will be more kindness in 2022.
