Father Gauthier
March 24 – I’ve never had a father. So, I’ve never missed having a father because how can you miss what you’ve never had? The only Father I’ve ever known is Father Gauthier, an incredibly kind and compassionate man who in 1979 led a church congregation to sponsor a refugee family that nobody else wanted, my family. A Father who brought joy and laughter to my 5yr old heart when he gave me a piggyback ride through a park. Of late, I am learning the pains of losing a father, when he no longer remembers your name, when he no longer remembers your face, when he no longer remembers your love for him. Father still smiles his beautiful smile, but my heart is much saddened that he’s forgotten all the amazing things he’s done, all the lives he’s touched, all the smiles he’s brought to our world. I hope the world will always remember you, Father. All too often, we really don’t know what we had until it’s gone…
March 9 – So amazing to be a part of this panel with the accomplished Eric Walters, Ben Philippe and Sharon Jennings.
March 7 – So amazing to discover on twitter, of all places, how, after reading The Doll, some students across Canada are making paper dolls and having conversations about kindness and empathy. So love, love!!
